Mother of The Bride outfit | A Phase Eight & John Lewis experience

by - February 04, 2014

My mum had mentioned to me a couple of times that finding an outfit is something she would like to do soon, although she had also told me many times that the wedding is months away and I shouldn’t worry about certain things yet. Her laid back approach altered slightly when she thought about herself in the spotlight. So Sunday 2nd Feb saw us heading out to seek out something suitable, flattering and beautiful for her to wear on the wedding day.

We headed to a Bridal Boutique, they had a sale on. She tried on two Ronald Joyce outfits both reduced down to £25. But neither of them were very flattering. The style, length and shape really did add a few years and the pastel blue or pale lilac weren’t complimentary of skin tone or hair colour. I persuaded her to consider us looking elsewhere.

These stores where on my list John Lewis, Bentalls Store, M&S, BHS, Monsoon and Jacques Vert…a busy day of shopping awaited.

John Lewis came first and that’s where is ended.

We headed to Women’s Fashion, 1st Floor, at the top of the escalator we were confronted with the below dresses. We were approached by a lady called Tanya. We told her what we were looking for and she selected the 2nd dress. She also selected the Jacket below and we went into the dressing rooms.

The 1st dress, Lorenza wasn’t a hit.  Looking at it it was a bit young in style, although the colour worked well. The 2nd dress Roma and the Nadia jacket worked really well together and the material flattered the figure well. The lady who helped us out, Tanya, was amazing. She was gentle with my mums confidence and her service was outstanding. Sometimes the service is equally as important as the product. The outcome was a success (minus the shoes they were just shop sample to get a feel for the outfit)

Thanks to the wonderful, attentive customer service, the experience of finding an outfit that my mum would feel confident and special in was an easy one. And it’s no surprise that Phase Eight won our hearts after all Your & Your Wedding Retail Awards 2014 presented them in January with the ‘Mother of the Bride Retailer Award’

…..(psssst did we mention we were at You & Your Wedding offices last week doing an interview (more on that soon))….

We are yet to accessorize this outfit with the Hat, Shoes and Jewellery but with 8 months to go those things can wait for awhile.

A personal thanks to Tanya at John Lewis, Kingston for a wonderful experience and through your outstanding service selling us the beautiful Phase Eight Roma Tapework Dress & Nadia Jacket.
