The Spa at The Randolph | Oxford

The spa at the randolph oxford

25th October marked our 1st year wedding anniversary {the paper one I'm in progress writing this post but will link it here}, with mum over to look after the girls Dave & I headed to Oxford city centre for the day. Neither of us had been before so it was lovely to discover another part of beautiful England. I easily fall in love with England's beautiful landscape & architecture and never fail to feel fortunate to live in a country of such beauty.

I'd Googled the McDonald Randolph Spa, read a few reviews who doesn't love TripAdvisor and gave them a call to enquire about offers. Their couple's package included a half spa day and deep tissue massage. Amazing. Booked it!

We spent the morning relaxing in the saunas, steam rooms, sensory shower, ice room (have you been in one? so much fun) and hydrotherapy pool, reflecting on our last year, our almost 10 years together and our future plans. We chatted about our families, friends, work, food, fitness, space travel and holidays. Quality time I savoured. Two hours later we showered and dressed and headed to the relaxation room awaiting our couples massage. It was Dave's first professional massage so he was in for a real treat.

35 mins and a deep tissue massage later and we were both left feeling so relaxed the world became one big marshmallow. Our 'after massage consultations' were interesting, apparently I have a lot of calcium deposits and a bit acidic. The therapist recommended a particular oil and I indulged with the hubby's permission...of course, soooo good for melting the ache {read more here}

We finished our morning with a complimentary glass of champagne topped with a deliciously sharp blackberry...yummy! We then ventured through the city, hand in hand, to the BEST 3 course lunch I've tasted in a long time  - I have a new found love for French food {see it here}

I would certainly return to the spa but I would say if you're looking for more of full spa experience day with many different rooms, water-beds, pools etc. then perhaps look elsewhere {I can highly recommend Longleat Centerparcs}That said, this inner city spa was perfect for our day out, the quality was perfect, the champagne delicious and the massage...the best I've ever had!
